J. Ladd Bauer, MD

Dr. Ladd Bauer is a Family Physician in California, who for the past few years has been increasingly involved with advising and advocating for people with health issues at a distance, via email and telephone. He has worked with many people with chronic illness and complex problems, and has found this to be a very satisfactory way to complement practice, and fill an important need.

Currently, in addition to carrying on a house-call practice which grew out of his years of clinical Family Practice, he is part-time chairman of a research ethics review board involving conventional and alternative studies, editorial board member of the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, medical advisor to the Mexican Institute of Traditional Medicine, and consultant in international medicine.

Dr. Bauer has studied alternative techniques, practitioners, and their complementary relationships with conventional practices, for many years. His overseas medical work has taken him to Mexico, Afghanistan, and E. Tibet, as well as parts of Europe. This has led his to his keen interest in cultural aspects of medicine, comparative spiritual practices, and the nurturing of balanced communities.
